Summer Camps

All camps will be held at Thomas S Wootton High School

2100 Wootton Parkway, Rockville, MD, 20850

Camp begins at 9AM and ends at 4PM

Week 1: Robotics: Disaster Relief                    $350

Campers 9-14 years old

June 24th to June 28th

When disaster strikes its robots to the rescue. Help design and prototype robots that save lives. In a disaster area, debris needs to be cleared, supplies brought in, and survivors carried out. Are you up to the challenge?! Spend a week learning about mechanics and electronics as you engineer these life saving robots.

Week 2: Robotics: Mining for Engineers         $280

(4 Day Camp)

Campers 9-14 years old

July 1st to July 5th (Closed on July 4th for Independence Day)

Mining is a complex engineering task. Are you up to the challenge. In today’s world robots do most of the dangerous work of mining. Spend a week learning about robotics and coding. Learn about mechanics, physics and automation as you work on a team to extract raw materials from the ground.

Week 3: A World of Drones                               $350

Campers 9-14 years old

July 8th to July 12th

Explore the world from the sky! Drones are at the forefront of technological advancement. Campers will get an introduction into drone videography and photography. The ability to add thermal sensors on drones allows them to conduct search and rescue missions from the sky.

Week 4: A Bridge to Engineering                     $350

Campers 9-14 years old

July 15th to July 19th

Work in teams to design, prototype and evaluate a bridge (structure, roadway, and lighting) for a town. Playing the part of engineer, each camper will learn about bridge design, computer aided design, cost optimization using formulas in spreadsheets, physics and force analysis, material science, and how electrical circuits work. See why engineers get paid the big bucks!

Week 5: Robotics: Disaster Relief                    $350

Campers 9-14 years old

July 22nd to July 26th

When disaster strikes its robots to the rescue. Help design and prototype robots that save lives. In a disaster area, debris needs to be cleared, supplies brought in, and survivors carried out. Are you up to the challenge?! Spend a week learning about mechanics and electronics as you engineer these life saving robots.

Week 6: A World of Drones                             $350

Campers 9-14 years old

July 29th to August 2nd

Explore the world from the sky! Drones are at the forefront of technological advancement. Campers will get an introduction into drone videography and photography. The ability to add thermal sensors on drones allows them to conduct search and rescue missions from the sky.
